Commenting on the result of the Liberal Democrat leadership context today, the party's East of England Euro MP Andrew DUFF said:
'Ming Campbell's victory is well-deserved. I have been happy to support him throughout the contest. His experience and authority will unite the party in the country and his leadership in Parliament promises to be both incisive and distinguished.
'The leadership campaign has been very impressive. In particular, the fight has enabled the party to develop its thinking on decentralisation and environmental policy. With Ming Campbell as leader, the Lib Dems will go forward with confidence to consolidate our reputation and performance as Britain's European party.
'In the East of England we are working hard to make further gains in this year's district council elections, thereby capitalising on our parliamentary success in the recent general election.'
